| Am trying not to get too analytical about this.. there are the men and women out there who treat sites like this as simply a distraction from everyday life. But there are also the ones who are genuinely looking for someone a bit special. Hang in there, the other messages and success stories may help to restore some faith, and the knowledge that there are men who actually prefer and not just tolerate bigger girls should go some way to restoring the rest! Just wanted to say to everyone that the site does work.
My OH and I have just had our beautiful daughter after meeting on here 3 years ago and we are getting married next year.
I did meet a few 'players' but meeting my OH more than made up for that.
So don't give up - it's unlikely that the first person you 'meet' will be the one - but don't let yourself be put off because he/she may just be an email away :)

ps my biggest tip is to not wait too long to meet as its likely that you will build up a false picture of the person and will most likely be disappointed that things are not so relaxed in person. |

However, yes it is his loss, but far more importantly, its hugely your gain, your lucky escape even!!!
Imagine actually meeting up and falling for someone, or getting into a relationship with someone who is deceitful and insincere and emotionally dishonest. Everything you thought he was, he was not, you made friends, you built up trust, but there was obviously things he was concealing from you, secrets, that he wouldn't reveal, otherwise this would not have happened. He would have explained he had a change of heart, didn't feel right about it and didn't want to pursue it anymore, but instead he left you unsuspecting that anything was up etc. It's so dishonest. Equally, he may have not been single. It's crazy isnt it, what on earth is the point in men doing that?? So odd!
The person you thought you were falling for, was not the true person he was, it wasnt real, he was presenting you with a person he wanted you to think he was,if that makes sense.
I know it will still hurt you, but try hard to remember, that it was nothing to do with you, he is just not quite normal, or nice or honest, genuine etc. Normal nice kind men wouldn't do that. And likely he will go on and do it to someone else, regardless of who they are.
Next time, dont get too close before meeting someone. Dont spend ages on internet and text and phone communication and leave meeting for so long. Keep your feelings moderate,and be realistic, and a little cautious. Internet connecting is never really real until real life, real world engaging has taken place; your instincts and intuition have kicked in; you've seen each other a few times; and you have both openly experienced a little of each other's worlds.
Hope i don't sound patronizing, i really dont mean to. It's just that i've been there! Its so upsetting, I dont let my self become attached or hopeful of anything much, until its happening regularly in the real world.
The attentiveness and flowers though, and nine weeks of interaction, i can definitely see why you thought he meant it.

har31...dont let this person shatter your confidence, this is not about you. It obviously his problem, his oddness, and you are not to blame for being trusting and honest and receptive to getting close to someone, albeit online. This just makes you a nice person really, and reveals him to be a weirdo. I know it hurts, but, just remember, it is nothing to do with you as a person, the guy was dishonest and deceived you. Some men do this. God knows what their motive is. I dont see why they bother.
Nothing is wrong with you, its not your fault, its simply that you engaged with someone unworthy of you.

I couldn't agree more....what do they expect you to do.!!!! Sometimes guys send you 'special messages' and when you reply, it takes them weeks to become a member and read your response....so why bother in the first place........they need to realise if you're looking for friends, love or just someone to chat to, become a member...it opens up so many opportunities......lol

I've had a lot of special messages from guys who, when I've read their profiles, state they are not a full member. I have no problem with that - I myself am not currently a paid up member, for a variety of reasons, but would become so if I wanted to message/respond to a message.
However, some of these guys go on to request that they be given access to email addresses in order that they may respond without becoming a member. I'm not sure if they mean send them an email address in a message - in which case they wouldn't be able to read it, or to include it within a profile, which would result in that person being banned from the site!
Either way - I for one wouldn't be keen to date someone who was too tight to pay the meagre membership fee in order to make legitimate contact!

There are a few genuine men (and women - lets not be sexist) on the site but they are a bit thin on the ground admittedly. All sites are the same though - internet dating kinda opens the floodgates for this sort of behaviour. But keep looking - you'll spot the signs eventually.
Hmmmm 49+.........wonder if you are referring to someone I encountered. I have written to the management about certain members but they are usually disappointingly uninterested and so they live to fight another day.
On the plus side, it's a great site for making friends!

I met my husband on 27th december 2004 on here & we had the full ivory (not white!!) church wedding in December 2005, we are so very happy & trying for a family - will keep ya posted, but Chris & Chrissy beat us to it (Switchguy & Lovebite).
All of you you who are still looking for love - please persevere - I know of another couple who met on here & are incredibly happy - Kentishnite & her man.

| What a wonderful site. Its so much better than others I've looked at its taken some time and effort to make this so effective. I love the fact that there is consideration for the users e.g. phone numbers provided, chatrooms and warnings about scams no other sites do this. Its very good value for money well done whoever organised this. I must have taken a lot of time and effort. Excellent management and administrated. |
Just a note to echo DoubleD_Decker's comment re the chatroom.
The chatroom comes and goes as people come and go. It has been quiet but at the minute it is buzzing on an evening. I usually log in around 8.30pm and there have been a handful of people already in there and even more are there and have passed through by the time I leave at around 11pm. The most I have ever seen is 24, which was too many really....but at the minute the average seems to be 8-12 people which is fun.
There is a trick to the chatroom - don't just stick your head round the door and leave - empty or full DO STAY. If you stay an empty chatroom will look inhabited for the next person who is more likely to stay. Chat to whoever drops by and you will find more people will drop by and hopefully will stay too. I find it amazing even in quiet times how many conversations I can have in an hour or so.
Also don't ever feel intimidated by the fact people know each other's names, history etc. Do say hello, ask a question or just join in. We all began somewhere and know how it feels to be new. Once you get to know some people it just gets better.
The chatroom is a great place to hang out. It's fun. We often arrange dates to go to BGP etc. and we've also arranged meals, parties, a BBQ etc. all by getting to know people in the chatroom.
Not only that but a large amount of romances that I know of have begun in the chatroom and certainly a lot have dates have been arranged.

well yes i agree that rejection, is part and parcel when on these sites but as long as its done nicely dont take it to heart, there is someone out there for all of us we jus have to stay positive, my preference is black guys but I wouldnt rule out white guys as there may be a really good one, its the person thats matters to me you look for different more inportant things as you get older, and John im sure uv rejected someone but better to tell then straight away rarther than leading them on,

I have to agree with Ian’s comments, but John also has a valid point. If people were more specific with their preferred ‘type’ it could hopefully avoid unwanted attention. At least one other site allows users to state their preferred racial group (just as you would state ideal body size or height) and as a black guy I have found this essential because, ultimately you have to accept the choices people make and lets be honest, we have all seen that some people make it quite clear, regardless. Sadly people can be very vague and make very general comments like ‘the opposite of dead’ or ‘still breathing’ and I have to admit that I have done the same but (in my defence) only because a profile can never truly represent a person and I want to keep an open mind. So although these statements are made in a light-hearted way, to someone reading the profile they offer no guide and so they send you a message.
Ian is correct, rejection is never nice, but it’s the price you pay for actively looking for a partner or even a friend. Keep logging in John and good luck.

I've checked it out everytime I log on and the only person in there is me - Susie-No-Mates lol. As Chrissy said, its a great forum for everyone to get to know each other, and who knows what could come from that? maybe a BIG BBW meet up and also, whilst I have avoided commenting on the previous messages regarding putting further information on profiles about what kind of friends people are looking for, wouldn't the chat room have been a better place to thrash it out?

| Hi Juicy, think that tends to be the norm I am afraid - and im sure many of us can tell you about those experiences or even how there are guys who chat to a few women saying they want to meet only to turn around two days later saying they have met the woman of their dreams. They way I look at it is they have saved me the time of finding out they were not right for me. If this is how they would treat someone in the initial stages who knows what would happen if they actually met you! So instead of being disappointed I think right on a bit of honesty would be nice but hey on to the next person who actually deserves my time! Hope that helps a little and best of luck to you. |

Can anyone help me out? Meet what I think is a great guy, talk for over 2 weeks, he begs to meet, speak to him on the phone every day and and on msn. He calls me 2 hours before we are due to see each other to tell me he is looking forward to meeting me.
Then he doesn't turn up, no phone call, nothing.

I have been on DBBW now for over 2 and a half years.
Whilst it has been fab to meet men on here, an unexpected benefit was that I never expected to gain such a wide and varied social circle through being on here. I have made some wonderful friends who I meet regularly. I have become much more open both in myself and with regards to others. Last year I spent my birthday alone, and this year I will be spending it with lots of my friends from this site. I have heard lots of people say that DBBW is a community rather than a dating site....Yes it is a dating website - a way of meeting people and yes the men here DO boost your confidence and make you feel good, but personally the community spirit (by and large created by hanging out in the chatroom) is what has helped to transform my life. My confidence is at an all time high and I just love this site!!

I have 2 suggestions though please (I am impressed you took the others on board). Please can we have an "I want someone round about the same age as me option" as the others are too specific ie. same/older/younger.
Also please can we have the option to tick one or all of the boxes re what we want from a relationship. I have written people off because they put fun and flirty, only to find out later they really wantes something serious but didn't know what to pick so played safe so not as to scare anyone off! Another website allows you to tick as many boxes as you want and I find that useful.

| I met my partner through this site earlier this year. We certainly had our share of the 'downs', along with the 'ups', but we decided to move in together this month, and it seems to be working out pretty well so far. This site changed my life in more ways than this, though, as it has brought me some amazing friendships and has restored my self-esteem. Yes, there are some players here for sure, but that's life, and we are all wise enough to know who they are and the tactics they employ. For the most part, people here are genuine, and I feel lucky to have found this amazing man and the chance of a fresh start in life. i would like to say a big thank you to BBW for helping me to meet my partner. We have now been together for 18 months and plan to stay together for the long haul. I wasn't sure what the site would bring when I nervously joined and I was very surprised when I received loads of messages from very genuine and lovely guys. Although I chatted online to loads of great people, my partner was only my 3rd date - My advice to new users is to be give the site a try you have nothing to lose by chatting to people online so long as you are sensible about who you arrange to meet with and of course - have fun!

Hey - just to echo a couple of things that some of the girls have just said before I head off...yes there are some players here, but there are some total diamonds who it is very much worth taking the time to get to know.
Also - don't assume that if you get a Special Message from someone that they are not a member - answer and then decide, as I got SM's from people who then turned out to be full members or who subequently (re)joined...remember the genuine blokes have the same concerns and insecurities as the genuine women so they are feeling their way as much as we are. If you don't like getting subsequent SM's then you can always block them.
Good luck with it, everyone... been here since Feb and I've had very few negative experiences - most of it has been very positive in a lot of different areas of my life - so it is worth taking the time to separate the wheat from the chaff. Ok - so I understand that some of you men may feel reticent about parting with cash, however, you have to speculate to accumulate.I've had a good look around the site, & 1 thing is obvious - the guys are surgically attached to their wallets. They also expect far toooo much - "No baggage" - BBW's as a general rule always have a little in my extensive personal experience, Also - "no Silicone" - Like BBW's need it- we are like the advert - we are exactly what it says on the tin.
Every woman on this website is beautiful in their own special way & should NOT change for anyone other tan themselves - I learnt this the hard way & have been lucky enough to find the perfect man. My (Amanda's) advice to you is to keep searching - don't settle for what you think is the best you'll get - been there - done that & was so very very very wrong, Prince charming ( or a Tim) will be yours eventually - you'll just have to kiss a few frogs (but not get attached to) on the way.

I have now met a gorgeous man, who worships the ground I walk on, and spoils me rotten, we have known each other for 8 weeks and have been seeing each other for 7 weeks, its like a jigsaw puzzle but with that missing piece found. We are getting on better and better each time we see each other and we are planning an exotic holiday in november. So for all you women who thinks that all these guys are not for real check them out and get to know them.
I certainly found a wonderful man, who i think we might have a future together.

On behalf of all us BBWs, I'd like to say what a superb site this is. I admit I was sceptical when I joined, and had a few false starts, but met a lovely man on here in January. We met in person in February, and 4 months later, we're still together...despite a distance gap (I'm near Glasgow, he's London). And, although it's still fairly early days, it just gets better every time we're together.
So for all you girls out there who've yet to meet your prince...don't give up, and don't let something like distance put you off from meeting someone who could make you very happy!

Just a quick note to say I think this site is fantastic, 97% of the people on here are so nice and genuine. And its so easy to go to the chat room and catch up on gossip, get support and advice.
One thing that I think would be good, is something like profile of the week, or member of the month, where either yourselves choose someone, or members can nominate someone.

I have to say I have absolutely nothing against anyone who is on this site, with the soul aim of finding one or more, predominantly sex based, relationships. Each to their own. All I would say is be HONEST about it! I don't think I'm alone when I say I have encountered many many men who will tell you whatever they think you want to hear, in order to achieve their goal. From what I hear the so called fairer sex are no better! It's like a minefield out there - picking through the profiles, trying to find someone compatable. So all I would say girls, it's not improving the situation by giving cross messages. You can't post a provocative pic of yourself and put in your profile that you're not looking for casual sex. Sure you'll get loads of hits, but are they from the people you want to attract????
I would also say though, that for some inexplicable reason, the people on this particular site, on the whole, appear to be honest and genuine. I've encountered a few 'players' but they do appear to be in the minority. Manners are sadly lacking on occassion though!
But guys, this is a site for big women. Most of us are not built like Jordan - not without the help of medical intervention anyway. If you're looking for big boobs and big bums, you have to accept that the rest of us might be big too!

I can honestly say if it wasn't for this site then I would never have stripped down to my undies - but the girls looked great (I'm still convinced that I look chinese on that picture) - at least their bra's fit them - mine was attached by a bit of cotton which nearly cut me in half. And girls, sorry that you had to see me on the toilet haha........
But I can honestly say that we laughed a great deal that day - we really did have fun - we have to get together soon x x x

I have decided to come back on to this site as I did make some good friends here ,I did meet someone from somewhere else and it taught me the valuble lesson of how not to meet someone and how dangereous it can really be....

Last year I met up with a man from here who won't mind me saying was my idea of a nightmare. I had totally dismissed his profile. However we chatted in the chatroom, and eventually agreed to meet as friends. But we hit it off, realised we actually got on ok together, and as a result I have had the happiest and most amazing year of my life with the most remarkable and wonderful man.
We don't quite know what the future holds for us as it isn't straightforward, but I wanted to take this chance to thank David for sharing the last year with me and I hope things work out. I know that we will be friends for life whatever happens.
I also want to say to everyone out there, that Dating BBW DOES work and the man/woman who is right for you may not be immediately obvious so give it time and talk before dismissing someone. The chatroom is well worth hanging around in. I met all my dates in there, but more importantly I made made some fantastic friends through chatting who I speak to all the time.
Thank you John for setting up this website and making me realise that being a BBW is something to celebrate, not to hide.

I felt the music was not a widespread - across the board - mix for all groups, but it,s what you make of it. I did see a lovely guy at the bar, who was drinking vodka and red bull, 6ft, white with little bit of stubble on his chin, muscular build............ rather scrummy. Sadly he left with someone, but if ur on here , u know my number cos I gave you my business card, he he. So did anyone recognise me ? | I also went to BGP lastngiht and was disappointed with the DJ's mixing ability, The music simply didnt flow in my opinion- However as a regular i have to admit that Agenda's is a great place. I remember it back in the day and it really has been revamped- its not the sweatbox i remember. Was nice to see so many of u there considering it clashed with the Birmingham bash. |

Re a venue in Glasgow: Apparently Bacchus in Glassford St has a function suite that they allow you to use free of charge, which might be good to look into it. Its very central too!

| Hi Just like to mention that BGP and BBw bashes are always nice places to go whether it be alone or in a group- ur always made welcome. Big Girls Paradise is my opinion is the better of the two. They have security watching out for so called leeches or men who like to take advantage of big girls. Ok, I SOOO wanted to go to the BGP party in London last night (27th Nov) but after getting dressed and looking HOT (lol) I didnt go because of train problems but as it happens, I was worried about coming home alone at night from London...... Just wanted to let everyone know (well those who are interested) ... I got married to a brilliant bloke ... ( there were some who didn't think he was ... but he turned out to be a star) !!! We have been together since the beginning of May and I knew he was the one so we didn't wait around !!! The baby will be here soon as well .. im so excited !!!
I met loads of nice people on here and some not so nice .. I even had to kiss a few ... and some of them were really bad at it .. some lied on the profiles (one said no smoker and social drinker and that was so not true ... he drank and smoked every night !!)

My name is Roni ( bikerwench).I'm Lesley's older sister and i would like to thank all your members for their kind words thoughts and prayers at this extremly sad time.
I have been reading the guest book every week since the accident and i would like you all to know that my family and myself have taken great comfort from the fact that Lesley seemed to touch so many lives , even if in only a small way.
Lesley had a great personality,she was witty ,had a heart of gold ,could party anyone under the table,had a termendous joy for life and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.I take comfort in the fact that Lesley was as generous in death as in life
and that many people will have a second chance at life because of her.I also take comfort in the fact that ,knowing Lesley ,she will have moved on to her next experience and will be having a bigger party than the one she had in this life.
I would appreciate if you could post this into your guest book so that her friends can read this Thank -you to them.

I only just found out about the sad loss of Aphrodite. I only chatted with her a few times in the chat room and found her to be a warm, kind & beautifully funny lady.
I'm sad that has been taken away from us all.

It is so good to read all the messages you have left for Lesley. She was my best friend and I will miss her more than I can say. I know her family have drawn comfort from all the kind words you have all said about her, and I can confirm that she is all you have said and more. She was my holiday companion, personal shopper, confidant and not forgetting drinking partner. We shared a lot of good (and sad) times together and she was always there for me when I needed her.
The cremation will be held at Blackley Crematorium at 2.30 on Monday for those who live near by, and for those who do not, I know she will be in your thoughts.
My daughter and myself will both miss her very much. All our love Lesley and keep everyone entertained in heaven my sweet.

What can I say? It is so heart warming to read all your lovely messages and your kind words of my dear friend Lesley. I am sure you will agree that Les touched the hearts of many and gave us all many a giggle.
Lesley and I were due to spend the weekend in London, however tragic events happened on the Tuesday prior. I for one will miss her so much and I am sure that many of you feel the same.
She had a zest for life that cannot be quantified and I doubt if i will ever meet another like her. She touched many lives in a special way.
If any of you knew Lesley personally and have contact telephone numbers for her, please respect her families wishes and refrain from contacting them at this very tough time. They all thank you for your messages and kind thoughts and they are delighted that you remember their lovely daughter in such a fond way.
Anyway Les, I have said my goodbyes personally - u know u rocked!
Could I kindly request that everyone make a special effort to attend the next BGP in her memory - i am sure she will be delighted to learn that half the site are having a drink on her - and she didn't have to put her hand in her pocket once!!

Until about three hours ago, I had NO IDEA that there were men out there who actually prefer big girls, rather than just put up with them. Finding this site today has been one of the most positive things ever to happen to me.
